Göçek Information

Göcek is a favored destination for both Turkish and foreign yachtsmen making it a favorite stopover for jet-setters and celebrities alike. This paradisical village of four-thousand inhabitants is only 20 minutes by car from Dalaman International Airport, which can be reached in 1 hour from Istanbul. more than just world-class yachting makes Göcek a unique destination; it is also the combination of the Turkish culture mixed in a beautiful and natural setting to make it such a peaceful and unique location. Strict development laws ensure that Göcek is protected from over-development and crowding. Göcek hosts four significant marinas that serve the yacht tourism in the region. Until 2006, it was necessary to drive through a relatively narrow and winding road to reach Göcek from Dalaman. The 980 meters long Göcek vehicle tunnel completed in June 2006 has significantly increased the accessibility of the town.
Getting There
The nearest airports served by international airlines is Dalaman International Airport. Dalaman is about a one hour drive from Fethiye. Daily flights connect with Istanbul, while direct flights (both scheduled and charter) go to and from major European cities several times weekly. Göcek has direct bus connections to Dalaman, Dalyan, Fethiye, Marmaris, Bodrum, Antalya and Izmir.
Getting Around
A regular dolmus service that runs to neighbouring resorts such as Dalyan, Dalaman, Sarigerme, Fethiye and Marmaris as well as surrounding villages. There are numerous car and motorbike rental agencies as well. Both bareboat and crewed yachts can be chartered at the marina.
What To See
Göcek is the gateway to the wonderful unspoilt islands in the gulf. Twelve Islands Tours by all manner of boats which are available for private charter, simple fishing boats and wonderful yachts – something to suit in every budget. There is one beach belonging to Swiss Hotel which you can enter by paying daily price or you get a seasonal membership. There is Inlice Beach out of Göcek which you can reach within 10 minutes drive, running by the municipality of Göcek and also the main island beach is reachable by water taxi from the harbour. Other beaches are easily accessible by car or taxi. Amongst these is Sarigerme which is a long sandy beach. Beyond Sarigerme is the fabulous protected beach of Iztuzu in the Dalyan Delta. In the opposite direction the famous beach at Oludeniz is only forty minutes drive away. Port Göcek is on the southwest of Turkey`s coastline, and is located in Fethiye Gulf. The sheltered harbour provides a secure place for yachtsmen. Port Göçek is 5 minutes away from Göcek village centre.
Things To Do
There is about twenty sailing and motor yacht charter and brokerage aftersails companies which makes Göcek a high class sailing place. Accordingly, there are several technical yacht services and chandleries and maintenance services. The gulf of Göcek and Fethiye provides many opportunities to visit cultural sites as, Caunos, Telmessos, Fethiye Museum, Tlos, Pınara, Letoon, Xanthos and Patara. There are many restaurants, cafés and bars at the promenade.
Guests come to Göcek either for the yachts and boats in the harbour or boutique hotels and villas in the region. It is a mixture of all nationalities who are not into the “package tourism” concept. Therefore, services given are with an eye to quality and not to quantity.
Food And Drink
The waterfront is lined with bars and restaurants. Inland life revolves around the market square which is lined with restaurants, cafes, little shops selling antiques and crafts as well as the usual carpets. The 12 islands, there are, in fact, far more than 12 and you could easily explore a different one each day of your holiday. On some you will find a simple restaurants to dine in or you can have lunch prepared for you on the tour boat. The multi-national atmosphere that exists because of Göceks port ensures that a broad range of cuisines are available. The many waterside eateries, cafes and bars provide the perfect place to relax and enjoy unspoiled tourism.
