Our Cat Sponsorship Programme 1. A Message from Princess Tiger Lilly Hello, may I introduce myself, my name is Princess Tiger Lilly, I am nearly two years old and this is my story. I was rescued from a gutter in the streets of Dalyan by my rescuers Dee and Cleo, I was just two weeks old and I had lost my mummy, I was wet and very ill when I was found, Dee & Cleo took me into their home and gave me a warm blanket and as I didn't know how to lap they had to feed me with a syringe, after a few days I was feeling better and my condition improved. Unfortunately they both had to return to the England a week or so later and it meant I may just not have had a home after all. In desperation they took me to The Queens Hotel where I was given lots of fuss and affection by the owners David and Drew, I was fed on fresh cooked chicken and given yogurt on a daily basis to build me up further. I had a thorough inspection by the vet in Ortaga and given my first course of injections, anti parasite tablets and my first ever passport. I have continued to make good progress and I am deeply grateful for the love and affection I have been given, I know now had I not been rescued I would have remained on the streets of Dalyan to die. It costs very little to help little defenseless animals like myself and this is the reason I have had this idea for a cat sponsorship programme, at The Queens Hotel we have another fourteen cats that have been helped and or need help in this way, David & Drew are setting up a fund raising project to help other cats like myself by having a birth control programme for the cats of Dalyan. Some of the cats at the hotel are already sponsored and there are some that are still looking for help. It costs 80YTL for a female cat to be operated and 60YTL for a Male, plus medication of approx 50YTL per cat. Birth control will reduce unwanted pregnancies. Our food cost approx 90YTL per year to feed one cat. May I introduce my friends to you? 2. My name is Marmalade, I am just one year old, and I was found outside in the garden of the Hotel when I was approximately four weeks old, I was very ill with internal parasites and was close to death when I was found. I was taken to Ortaga animal hospital where I stayed for several days. On returning to the Hotel two lovely guests staying at the Hotel fell in love with me and agreed to sponsor me. They paid for my vet bills and later on paid for my operation to have my bits removed, it is OK now, and I just go out as a consultant!! I am very grateful to my sponsors Janet & Peter and I am always so pleased to see them when they come visiting. I hope some of my furry friends will be as lucky. 3. I am 'Mummy Puss One', also called 'Wonky Leg' arrived at the hotel in the spring of 2008, quite heavily pregnant, I was looked after by the owners and shown a comfortable bed in a wardrobe where I could give birth to my babies, I gave birth to three kittens, Asparagus, Sprout and Green Bean, sadly Green Bean died shortly after Birth. I am sponsored by The Queens Hotel and I will not be having any more babies. 4. My Name is Asparagus, I have had my operation and I am sponsored by The Queens Hotel. 5. Hello, Sprout here, I am also sponsored by The Queens Hotel and I have had my operation. 6. My name is Sooty, I am nine months old, I was so ill when I was five weeks old I followed someone down the street and they stopped at The Queens Hotel, I sat on the bridge and this very kind man came out and picked me up, I was very cold and I had a very bad hip, I had been kicked very badly, I was in great pain and was very stressed. The hotel called the vet and I was taken to hospital where my leg and hip were put in plaster, I remained at the hospital for three days and then I was returned to the Hotel, I was given lots of love and affection and have made almost a full recovery, I still have a limp, but I have no pain or discomfort. I am a female and I have now had my operation. 7. My name is Pengue and I was only six weeks old when I was found outside the Charity Shop near the Acar Park Hotel in Dalyan, Mebrush, the very kind lady who was in the shop at the time took me in and gave me some food, she was very concerned for my health as I was under nourished and very thin. Two lovely people called Gary and Helen saw me and they aletered the Queens Hotel, it was not long before I was collected and brought to the hotel, I was very ill with feline cat flue, my eyes were running and I was sneezing badly. The vet in Ortaga gave little hope for my recovery as I was so ill, The owners of the hotel use to visit me every day at the vets I was there for over a week, after a about six days I started to feel better and stopped sneezing, and my eyes had improved. When I got back to the hotel I was fed on fresh chicken, I have continued to make good progress, I am currently at the vets having my operation its very modern and the people here are very kind to me. Thank you all for giving me the opportunity in being able to tell my story. 8. I was brought to the Hotel by someone who worked at another hotel and they were told to take me and my three kittens to the River… My Name is Mummy Puss 2 the kind man brought me to the hotel as he knew this was the kindest thing to do. I walked into this Villa owned by two lovely English people, they gave me milk and food, they made me feel very welcome and gave me a old blanket to keep me warm, I stayed with them for three days and I knew they were packing up to leave, I was so upset as I was just getting on with them and they seemed to like me. I was put into a box and taken by car to this place that had other cats, I couldn’t believe it, and I was made such a fuss and given a lovely welcome. I was fed on fresh cooked chicken for the first few weeks to build me up and I got to know all the other cats. My name was Gizmo unfortunately winter was to hard for me and I died of cat flue, I thank you for giving me a chance. 12. My Name is Susie, I am a one year old cat, I was born across the river in Cundir, my owner called Annie had to go to Germany to help her very sick mother, Annie was so desperate to find me a home as she did not want to lose me, by this time I was unfortunately pregnant and I have four small kittens, three Ginger and one Tabby they have no names yet, ( would you like to sponser one?) At this time the babies are doing well but they will soon need homes, if it had not been for the support of the guests of The Queens Hotel I would have been left to die….Thank you for giving me hope and a lovely home. 13. My name is Carrot, I am just four weeks old, I was born on the roof of the Kosem Restaurant on Maras Mah in Dalyan, I lost my Mummy and was very cold and hungry, I was crying which seemed for ages and this man climbed onto the roof and said he was going to look after me, he took me to his Hotel and gave me a warm bed, love and affection and I am so lucky. I have had an inspection from the Vet and I have had my first injections and tablets. I found a loving home-thank you! 16. I had a cyst on my face and was in great pain, I was living close by to The Queens Hotel, One day I felt so bad I just laid on the floor crying, this kind man came along and picked me up and he said he was going to look after me, he telephoned the Vet who came within an hour and they took me to hospital, I stayed two days while they drained the fluid from my face, I lost one of my eyes, they gave me injections and tablets for the pain, I was returned to the hotel although I do not live there, I do not know what to do, they make me so welcome and they feed me, I might just move in, what do you think!! I need a sponsor though, they have called me 'one eye' 17. My name is Imposter. They called me Imposter as I use to sneak into the hotel and pretend to be 'Sprout' as I look like him, the owners use to give me fresh chicken until one day they realized I was The Imposter, but instead of throwing me out they made me feel very welcome, concerned that I was a man about town!!! They sent me to Ortaga where I had my operation, I am now living in a wonderful house in Okcular. 18. Hello my name is window mummy puss, they call me this because I'm a street cat which sits at the side bar window I don't go in but just sit at the window waiting to be fed I have done this for the past two winters when food is harder to find the kind owners always feed me and try to give me attention I'm getting better at letting them stroke me and giving me fuss, I know if I am hungry I can always go there for food!
